What to do

Things to do in the area

The Yucatan Peninsula has a lot to discover. Nature and wild life is amazing and there are plenty of adventures to enjoy. There is also a rich heritage from the Mayan Indians with several Mayan temples, including Chichen Itza and Uxmal witch are the most famous. There are large areas of flamingos in Celestun and you can see 1000s of flamingos gathered in one place. To visit one of the many cenotes (deep crystal clear freshwater sources) is highly recommended.

Golf

For those who want to play golf the exclusive golf club Yucatan Country Club, with courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, is about 20 minutes away.

Progreso

Which is about 20 minutes away, is a small port and a genuine Mexican town that is full of life when the cruise boats dock. Here 's Malecon - a nice beach walk with the bars, street vendors, supermarkets, restaurants and shops. Shuttle Progreso run regularly from all the small villages along the coast.

Merida

If you for some more action Merida is only 20 minutes away. Merida is a stunningly beautiful colonial city that offers rich cultural life, restaurants, bars, movie theaters, shopping, museums, markets, etc. Here you can find everything you could wish for. If you want to have lunch or dinner there are numbers of different restaurants. Want to try a real Mexican Taco you should try Wayanes which is one of Merida's absolutely the most popular Taco Restaurant.

Fishing

We can arrange for you to be picked up right outside the house with a fishing boat including fishing equipment and of course a local fisherman. Hopefully you can have fresh fish for dinner in the evening.

Snorkel

There are opportunities to snorkel and experience the Gulf of Mexicos aquatic life. From the house it is a 5-10 minutes walk before you swim out to the reef where you can snorkel freely in the nice warm water.

Haciendas

Haciendas are mexico's name on the Castle or Manor. History tells us that many of Yucatan haciendas grow "Yucatans Green Gold", the henequen cactus, at the beginning of industiralismen time. From the henequen sisal ropes where made and sold worldwide. This is facinating history that you can both see and listen to at the Sotuta de PAEON where they also have a beautiful Cenote included in the tour which is advantageously begun or ended with something to eat in the restaurant which has delicious food.
